The Belgium superstar has not hit his known heights since swapping Stamford Bridge for Santiago Bernabeu ahead of the start of the 2019/2020 season.
Hazard was reduced to only 22 appearances in all competitions for Los Blancos last season where he scored just one goal and provided seven assists.
The 30-year-old has played only twelve games this season as his injury troubles linger but a recent performance in Real Madrid’s away victory against Alaves where he scored one goal has reminded people of Hazard’s talent.
In a recent rant on ‘El Chiringuito’, one of Spain’s popular TV shows, Gati, a man who is known for picking on Messi on several occasions, has insisted that the former Lille man could be better than his compatriot.
“I still think Eden Hazard is on Messi’s level. Yes, he can be even better than Messi but he hasn’t played as much. He was a very different player yesterday. I do think Hazard can be better than today’s Leo Messi,” the 76-year-old said.
“If he overcomes his mental block with his injuries, I believe he can get there. Even more so with today’s Messi because he’s been below his level for a few years already.”
“Eden can be the ace under Real Madrid’s sleeve this season but we need to keep an eye out. Injuries have taken the best of him but I saw him slim recently and getting along better with Benzema.”
