The Rossoneri maintained their three-point lead at the summit of the Italian league with another comfortable victory in Sardinia island against Eusebio Di Francesco’s men.
AC Milan were off to a flyer when Zlatan Ibrahimovic put them ahead after just seven minutes into the game. The hosts forced their way to pull parity before the break but their efforts were not enough to break the visitors’ defence.
Ibrahimovic doubled Pioli’s men’s advantage seven minutes after the interval and that was enough to secure the maximum points for the Milanese club despite a red card shown to Alexis Saelemaekers on the 74th minute mark.
“We think about giving our best every match, the season has been like this,” Pioli told Sky Sport Italia after the match. “I told my players to pay attention, we must all be ready, and luckily we were.
“We faced a test of strength, we deservedly won.
“I say thank you to the fans for their support, the team will do everything to give our best, we must continue to think that every match will be the most important.
Next up for AC Milan is a daunting task as they entertain Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta in Serie A on Saturday.
He added: “On Saturday we will have a very important game against Atalanta, then in April we will see the ranking.”
