Earlier this week, the Premier League, FA and EFL released a joint statement warning football to 'set the right example to the public on and off the pitch' in helping tackle the pandemic by practicing socially-distanced goal celebration.
That was the case at the King Power Stadium when Maddison opened the scoring from a tight angle.
The 24-year-old wheeled away in celebration but asked his teammates to stand back amid the new Premier League coronavirus protocols.
"[On his socially distant celebration] If little things like that are what we need to keep football going then so be it. We have been told to stop gatherings of people and I tried to make it light hearted,” the former Norwich City man said after the game.
"Footballers, we get a lot of stick and it's nice to put a lighter note on it. I don't think you will find one person in the country who wants football to stop.
England head coach Gareth Southgate was in attendance and the midfielder beseeched his compatriot to give him more minutes at international level.
Maddison added: "I hope Gareth Southgate had his mask on - it's nice to have him here. I want more international football; I've had a taste.
