The 23-year-old Serbia international moved to the Santiago Bernabeu from Frankfurt in the summer of 2019 for €60m after a superb 2018/2019 season during which he notched 27 goals in all competitions.
However, Jovic’s time in the Spanish capital has not gone according to plan as he has been unable to dislodge Karim Benzema as the club’s first choice striker.
Jovic has scored just two goals in 32 appearances across all competitions for Zinedine Zidane’s men and featured just five times in the first half of the current campaign for Real Madrid.
“Luka didn't have an easy time in Madrid recently. It is important for him to get back on track. It was his great wish to return to Eintracht," Frankfurt’s sporting director Fredi Bobic said at Jovic's unveiling on Thursday.
"Luka can use the next few months to find his way back to old strength in a familiar environment. Real Madrid know that he is in good hands with us and that he can develop here.
"And it is clear to us that we have another excellent option in the storm centre."
Frankfurt are currently ninth on the Bundesliga able. Jovic’s first game back for the club could be against Schalke 04 this weekend.
