Kubo is on a season-long loan deal at the Yellow Submarines from Real Madrid, and has made 19 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal.
Most of the 19-year-old Japanese international’s appearances have however been from the bench, leaving the former Barcelona youngster frustrated.
Kubo was left out of the Villarreal squad for Saturday’s 2-1 La Liga win over Levante, and Emery confirmed afterwards that he had asked for his loan spell to be cut short, with Getafe reportedly interested in bringing him to the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.
"I asked Kubo if he wanted to stay or leave [Villarreal] and he told me that he is looking for a way out," the former Arsenal and Paris Saint Germain manager said at his post-match news conference.
"Take's behaviour is good, he has helped us and he must continue to grow as a player.
"However, he told me he wants to leave in order to find more minutes elsewhere and that's why he wasn't in the matchday squad today."
Kubo had a more fruitful spell on loan at relegated Real Mallorca last season, scoring four goals and providing four assists in 34 top flight games.
