The Toffees were languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League when Carlo Ancelotti took over from Marco Silva a year ago and things have changed since.
After fairly steadying the ship in the second half of the 2019/2020 season to help Everton finish 12th on the Premier League table, the Merseyside-based team have started this campaign on a high and Ancelotti insists he is happy with how the journey is going so far.
"I am really pleased because I found the right club, a nice club a family club. I live in a nice area so after one year I can say I was lucky,” the Italian coach said.
Everton secured a 1-0 win against bottom side Sheffield United on Saturday and Ancelotti insists he liked the defensive phase of him men despite admitting he did not like the overall performance.
“We defended well but also we didn't play so well with the ball but defensively we were strong and concentrated. These three points are very important for us,” the former Chelsea coach added.
"When I put on Andre Gomes I put Gylfi Sigurdsson a little bit back but he found the solution.
"We feel good also because we have problems at this moment with a lot of players out but this team has a lot of spirit and this is good. I am really pleased to manage these players.
"We were patient. We were in the game and stayed in the game most times, we defended pretty well and we found the right opportunity to score a goal.
"Every game is really difficult, complicated. Sheffield United are a good team, we are really pleased to be second. We didn't expect that at the start of the season but we are there and we want to stay there.
"The squad we have is good. We have a lot of important players out. With these players back we can still have a really good season, we don't have to think about the transfer window in January.
"We are there, we are pleased to be there but we don't have a lot of time to think about it. We have another game in two days, we push."
