The La Liga giants’ hopes to secure qualification into the next round of the Champions League is hanging up in the air after a poor start to the European season.
Zinedine Zidane’s men currently sit third in Group B with seven points. Having been beaten twice by Shakhtar Donetsk and a draw away at the Borussia-Park means Real Madrid must beat the Germans on Wednesday to secure a place in the Round of 16.
Casemiro was speaking to the media ahead of the La Liga champions’ crunch encounter against Marco Rose’s men, and the Brazil international insisted his team-mates are not thinking about anything rather than beating Monchengladbach in what he called the most important game of the year.
“We know that tomorrow is the most important game of the year,” the former FC Porto midfielder said.
“We know that tomorrow’s game is a final and we’re going to play it like a final. We’ve been taught at this club that you don’t play finals, you win them.
“We’re not thinking about anything other than winning.
“We know there is a good opponent and they’re top of the group, so we have to respect that. But, we’re going out to win.”
