‘Whoever Is Available, We Are Still Liverpool’- Klopp Refuses To Hide Behind Reds’ Injuries

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he will not hide behind the club’s injury predicaments as he expects his side to continue winning games.

Liverpool have had to contend with a host of injury situations at this early stage of the season, leaving Klopp to vent his anger towards the league’s authorities and some of his fellow managers for failing to adopt the five-substitutions rule.

The likes of Virgil Van Dijk, Alisson Becker, James Milner, Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain, Thiago Alcantara and Joe Gomez are all on the treatment table.

Nonetheless, Liverpool have booked their place in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League as group winners with a game to spare and are also second in the Premier League, level on points with leaders Tottenham, who have a superior goal difference.

Ahead of Liverpool’s home game against Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend, Klopp is expecting his side to go for the win irrespective of the personnel he fields.

"Whoever is available, we are still Liverpool. That's how we see it. It means we want to win the game," the Liverpool manager told reporters.

"Actually, I think most of the people think we have to win the game. You can see that when you speak before a game, or after a game, people don't talk about [who is available] – he is not available, he is not available, yes, yes, no – nobody really would allow you to use such a situation as an excuse. And we don't, we don't.

"The situation is tough, 100 per cent, but we are at matchday – where are we, nine, 10 coming? Not sure. So, it feels quite long already but it's not even a third of the season.

"So, who cares who is where in the moment. We try to play football. We won some games, drew in others, lost one massively. So, that's the job."
