‘I Don’t Have Any Issue With Him’ – Messi Ready To Dine With Ronaldo

Lionel Messi says there is no bad blood between him and Cristiano Ronaldo and would jump at the opportunity to have dinner with the Portuguese superstar.

Messi and Ronaldo have ruled the footballing world for more than a decade, sharing ten Ballon d’or awards between them and there have been suggestions that the two do not really get on.

The pair recently met at the awards ceremony for UEFA’s Men’s Best player, where Ronaldo suggested a private dinner between the two sometime in the future and Messi says he would have no issue honouring the invitation.

"Yes, I don't have any problem with that," Messi told SPORT.

"I've always said that I don't have any issue with him. We might not be friends because we've never shared a dressing room together, but I always see him at award shows and there's no problem.

"We actually spoke with each other for quite a long time at the most recent show.

"I don't know if there will be a dinner because I don't know if our paths will cross for obvious reasons, each one of us has our own life and our own commitments. But obviously I would accept the invitation."

Ronaldo and Messi were beaten to the UEFA Men’s Best Player award by Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk, and the trio have once again been shortlisted for the FIFA Men’s Best player award, which will be announced on September 23.
