La Dea started the domestic season on a high but have fallen to seventh position on the league table following a series of inconsistent results in recent weeks.
Gasperini’s men have won just one game in their last five Serie A games. A disappointing 0-0 draw against newcomers Spezia last weekend was quickly followed by an emphatic 2-0 win against Liverpool on Wednesday, and the Italian coach has urged his side to bring such confidence and energy to the Serie A.
“It was a magical evening for us,” Gasperini told the club’s official website ahead of Atalanta’s home game against Hellas Verona. “Winning on that pitch was undoubtedly a great satisfaction.
“An injection of confidence and energy. This must be brought to the championship and the next games.”
He added: “The championship is balanced, and it will always be like this. We are talking about a complicated campaign with difficult matches and maybe some better ones.
“We have already taken note of this. We are not concerned about those who have different expectations.
“We have the Champions League in between and it will be like that. It’s not always easy to play like that.
“For us, it will be a different season from the others. But let’s be calm.”
