Playing Chelsea Is Just Another Game, Says Mourinho

Jose Mourinho is taking his Tottenham Hotspur side to Stamford Bridge for a Premier League game against Chelsea on Sunday and the Portuguese coach insists playing against the Blues is just a normal game as any fixture.

Mourinho became a cult-hero in West London accross two spells with Chelsea.

The Portuguese coach won the Premier League in his debut season in England, ending Chelsea’s 50-year wait for the league title in the 2004/2005 season.

The Blues retained their crown in 2005/2006 season under the tutelage of Mourinho before he was sacked at the beginning of the 2007/2008 campaign.

Mourinho returned to Chelsea in June 2013 after his adventures with Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

After the 2013/2014 season where Chelsea went trophyless, the Portuguese guided Chelsea to their fourth Premier League title before he was eventually sacked after a poor start to the 2015/2016.

Now plying his trade in North London, after a two-and-half years in Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur has started the season on a high and their title credentials will be tested when they face Frank Lampard’s men on Sunday.

“It’s just another game for me,” said the Mourinho ahead of the clash as per Sky Sports.

“No problem at all. Going [to Stamford Bridge] top of the league or going there with Liverpool top of the league doesn’t change anything for us,” said Mourinho, who reiterated playing former club Chelsea was just another game.

“As I was saying since the beginning of the season we are only or always contenders to win the next match. Nothing more than that.”

“We are going to be there [at Chelsea], with three possible results. We are in football for a long time, we know that anything can happen, but we go there, and our objective is to win the game.”
