Chelsea’s Thiago Silva, Manchester City’s Kyle Walker, Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish, Che Adams of Southampton, West Ham United’s Pablo Fornals and Wolverhampton Wanderers skipper Conor Coady complete the shortlist.
Kane is the only member from the September shortlist to retain his place. The 27-year-old England skipper scored four goals in the month of October and laid on three assists for his teammates.
Son benefited much from Kane’s benevolence during the month, scoring four goals and assisting twice to help Jose Mourinho’s men move up the table.
Chelsea’s recent upturn in form defensively can be credited to the addition of the experienced Silva to their ranks. The 36-year-old Brazilian recovered from his howler at West Bromwich Albion earlier in the season to help Chelsea keep three clean sheets last month.
Walker helped Man City go unbeaten in the month of October and scored his side’s winning goal against boyhood club Sheffield United last week.
Adams scored twice for Southampton during the month and provided one assist while Grealish’s finest hour came in Aston Villa’s 7-2 hammering of champions Liverpool as he scored twice on the day and assisted three times against Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Fornals scored twice in October and assisted once during West Ham’s surprising win at Leicester and Coady helped Wolves keep three clean sheets in an unbeaten month for Nuno Esperito Santo’s men.
Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin won the award last month.
