Klopp Praises Alexander-Arnold Ahead Of Premier League Milestone

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is in line for his 100th Premier League start when the Reds face West Ham United on Saturday, and head coach Jurgen Klopp has hailed the England international for his meteoric rise to prominence.

Alexander-Arnold, who joined Liverpool's academy at the age of six, made his Premier League debut in the 2016/2017 season, coming on as a late substitute in a 3–0 win over Middlesbrough, and made his first league start in a 1–1 draw against rivals Manchester United on January 15, 2017.

The 22-year-old has since established himself as one of the best right-backs in the league, winning the PFA Young Player of the Year award after helping Liverpool to their first league title in 30 years.

Alexander-Arnold has also been named in the PFA team of the year for the last two seasons.

Ahead of Liverpool’s home game against the Hammers, Klopp showered praise on the right-back.

"It's a great number, it's been a great ride so far, an interesting journey," the former Borussia Dortmund boss said.

"He came in with a super basis as a player and person, and used it to make big development steps.

"When you see pictures from his first game, the boy who came in compared to the man now, even though he's a young man, the difference couldn't be bigger. When you look at his age, there is a lot of space for improvement and he will use that.

"It's really nice to be part of this journey, because everyone dreams of it, and when you are part of it, it's pretty special."
