Real Madrid have won the Champions League a record thirteen times. Los Blancos have dominated the European scene in the last ten years, winning the Champions League four times in that period.
The La Liga giants set an extraordinary record by winning the competition three consecutive times under Zinedine Zidane.
However, Real Madrid have put up a shocking performance in Europe since winning their last title at NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium in 2018.
The Madrid-based team are yet to reach the Champions League quarter-finals since 2018, having been knocked out at the Round of 16 stage in the last two seasons by Ajax and Manchester City respectively.
Zidane’s men are now preparing to begin another adventure in Europe, and they start with Shakhtar Donetsk in the group opener on Wednesday.
Speaking to the media ahead of Madrid’s game against the Ukrainians, Courtois has insisted that his side can replicate their previous successes in Europe.
“I’m sure we can win this Champions League,” Courtois said.
“Real Madrid are always favorites in this competition. I’m pretty sure, I’m confident we have enough quality in the team to win this title.
“Juve, Bayern, Barca, there are a lot of good clubs, it’s the most attractive competition in the world and we’re going to do all we can to win the title.”
