Juventus Chairman Explains Why Sarri Was Sacked

Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli has finally revealed the reason behind the sacking of Maurizio Sarri after just one season in Turin.

Sarri was poached from Chelsea after successfully guiding the Premier League outfit to a Europa League glory in the 2018/2019 season.

The former Napoli man was given a three-year contract at the Allianz Stadium but was sacked after just a one season despite guiding the Bianconeri to their ninth consecutive Scudetto, albeit in unconvincing fashion.

Juventus finished the Serie A season with just one point ahead of second placed Inter Milan, and had 83 points; the lowest among their eight previous title wins.

Juventus were also knocked out of the Champions League Round of 16 stage by minnows Olympique Lyon.

Agnelli insists Sarri time in Turin was marred by lack of chemistry between his compatriot and the players.

“The ninth consecutive Serie A title didn’t find the right recognition from us, from the fans and others but I am convinced that in a few years everyone will understand what we’ve done,” the Business Tycoon told Football Italia.

“There is, however, disappointment, for the two finals we lost. It still burns like the elimination from the Champions League. Sarri is a great person, cultured, and with a sense of humor, with many interests in addition to football which is his first passion, so I am extremely happy that he won the championship with us.

“However, inside the locker room there must be an alchemy that leads to overcome obstacles that may seem insurmountable. This alchemy was not created with the whole environment. He brought the Scudetto cup to the museum and he will forever be remembered as one of the winning coaches of Juventus.”
