Goater believes the England international has a different set of skill compared to what Pep Guardiola already has.
Calvert-Lewin has been in good form since Ancelotti took over as the Toffees’ manager and has started the 2020/2021 on a high, having already scored nine goals from six games in all competitions.
Sergio Aguero is left with a year on his current deal and he is yet to extend his stay at Etihad. Goater believes Calvert-Lewin tips all the boxes and would become successful in Manchester.
“OK I’ve held my tongue on this one for a minute but when City go for a CF Calvert-Lewin needs to be on that shortlist,” said Goater.
“He has pace, power, height, and is improving every day. He can improve with technique but he would offer something unique in @ManCity team no doubt.”
The former Bermuda international added: “City have focal points everywhere on the world. However, City will look with a view for a striker with a character. And the chance of the player having the option to be at the club for various years. Not only for a season, except if you’re Messi.
“When I look at City, I would just say a striker that has more of a physical presence to be adaptable. For me, I think if City has success they may need to be more adaptable. Rather than one up top and two out wide.”
