Messi and Barcelona’s row was rife in the media throughout the summer, with the Argentina superstar said to be willing to leave the Camp Nou.
The Blaugrana’s failure in Europe in recent seasons coupled with lack of proper planning from top level management made the 33-year-old frustrated and was keen to cut ties with his boyhood club.
His purported discord with the club was aggravated when his friend and former team-mate Luis Suarez was forced out of the club to join La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid.
Messi released a scathing message on his social media account slamming Barcelona for selling Suarez.
Messi eventually stayed in Catalonia as no team was willing to defray his €700 million release clause and is currently involved in the ongoing season.
Scaloni is delighted to see the La Masia academy product focusing his attention to on-pitch performance once again.
“I spoke to Leo when everything was resolved and I saw him calm,” he said, as relayed by the Daily Mail.
“Since his arrival, we’ve been able to have a long chat. He is happy to be here. He’s now well in his club.”
“All we wanted from a distance was for everything to be resolved and for him to play and to be fit.
“For us, it’s positive that he stayed because he was able to play immediately, he knows the club, but in terms of decisions, we don’t get involved in that, we don’t step in the player’s territory.”
Messi is in contention to captain Argentina in their upcoming games against Ecuador and Bolivia.
