Chilwell scored and assisted in a much improved second half performance as Chelsea ran riot against their London rivals.
The Blues lacked cutting edge as they struggled to break down the Eagles’ low block in the first half, despite having most of the ball, but drew first blood five minutes after the break when Chilwell slammed home from eight yards.
The England international was involved in Chelsea’s second goal as his sumptuous cross was met by Kurt Zouma midway through the game.
Jorginho slotted two penalties (78 and 82) after Tammy Abraham was brought down by Tyrick Mitchell and Mamadou Sakho had tripped Germany international Kai Havertz.
Speaking to the media after the game Lampard admitted that it is great to put four past Palace and lauded Chilwell, who became the 23rd different player to score on his Chelsea debut in the Premier League and first Englishman to do so since Paul Hughes against Derby County in January 1997.
“Not too many put four past Crystal Palace. First half we started well, we came off it a little bit. We needed a bit more. It was great for us to get four goals,” the English coach said.
"Just the urgency of our game needed more. We needed to get Ben Chilwell into the game. We can't allow Palace's back four to say dealing with Chelsea's front line was easy.
"Ben Chilwell was fantastic today. His ability to be so high up the pitch, and that's not a bad thing, and his great quality on the ball. The lads who have come in have all had issues so we need to give them time but Ben has shown what he's all about."
