De Gea is widely regarded as one of the best keepers in Europe, having moved to Old Trafford from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011 to fill the shoes of the retiring Edwin Van Der Sar.
The 29-year-old has won four Manchester United player of the year awards due to his impeccable performances in England, but has endured a torrid time in the past few seasons.
Highly-rated English keeper Dean Henderson returned to Manchester after his loan spell with Sheffield United and is in contention for gametime at the club. De Gea will have to be at his best brilliant best or he faces the danger of falling down to the club’s second-choice keeper.
He has been heavily criticized from fans and the media in recent times but Taibi has expressed his confidence in the Spaniard.
“De Gea is one of the best goalkeepers in Europe,” the Italian who played alongside Ole Gunner Solskjaer at Old Trafford during the 1999/2000 season told American Gambler.
“In England, he has been incredible. Yes, you can have the odd game where it doesn’t quite go like you had hoped, but he is so good that he will easily rediscover his form.
“You just work hard and someone like him will come back stronger. For me, he’s a goalkeeper you can’t even judge. He is one of the best.”
