Atalanta and Lazio finished in the top four last season and have already opened their 2020/2021 season with wins against Torino and Cagliari respectively.
Inzaghi highlighted the similarities between his side and Gian Piero Gasperini’s men, insisting that ‘anything can happen’ tomorrow.
“We know the strengths of the opponent,” the Italian tactician said in his press conference. “Atalanta are a team we know well.
“They have always been intense and a beautiful challenge. We have had an excellent journey for years.
“There will be two organised teams, each with their own methodology. Anything can always happen against Atalanta, from 0-3 to 3-3, to the return match, then the Final of the Coppa Italia.
“Atalanta 45 days ago deserved access to the semi-final, we must not forget that.
“We have to be as intense as they are. We face an organised opponent and they’re not easy to play against.”
The Serie A side are said to be close to signing Wesley Hoedt and Andreas Pereira from Southampton and Manchester United respectively and Inzaghi insists the club’s board are working to satisfy him in a ‘turbulent’ transfer window.
“For all the coaches, the transfer market is giving us some turbulence and we want it to end soon,” the coach added.
“The club is trying to satisfy me; we will have many games and we’re late. After the match with Inter and the break, I will have the full team.
“I think it will be closed [after Hoedt and Pereira], but for now my attention is on Atalanta.
“Pereira is an important player who can alternate between midfield and attack. He joins a tried and tested group, we are confident."
