Klopp Hails Liverpool’s ‘Outstanding’ Performance Against Arsenal

Premier League champions Liverpool came from a goal behind to beat Arsenal 3-1 at Anfield and Jurgen Klopp has waxed lyrical about his team’s stellar display.

Liverpool maintained their perfect start to the season by inflicting Arsenal’s first league defeat of the season.

The Gunners stunned Liverpool 25 minutes into the game when France striker Alexandre Lacazette capitalised on Andrew Robertson's mistake to give Arsenal the lead but Liverpool swiftly drew level three minutes later thanks to Sadio Mane.

Robertson redeemed himself to give Klopp’s men a deserved halftime lead before summer signing Diogo Jota scored during the dying embers of the game to put the game beyond Arteta’s men.

In an interview with Sky Sports after the game, Klopp insisted his side were unlucky to concede from Arsenal’s first attack but was happy with Liverpool’s overall performance.

“Arsenal had the first counter attack and we were unlucky,” the former Borussia Dortmund coach said.

“We played outstanding football before and outstanding football after. The boys played an exceptional football game."

Manchester United legend Roy Keane described Liverpool’s display as lethargic as he believes the Reds were sloppy against Arsenal, but Klopp was quick to quash the pundit’s claim.

"Did I hear right that Mr Keane said we had a sloppy performance tonight, because I could hear you already?" Klopp added.

"Did he say that? This was a sloppy performance tonight? Maybe he spoke about another game. It cannot be this game, sorry. That's an incredible description of this game.

"This was absolutely exceptional. Nothing was sloppy, absolutely nothing. It was, from the first second, dominant against a team in form, 100 per cent in form. About this game tonight, there is nothing bad to say."
