The 29-year-old defender has joined I Crociati on a four-year contract, as it was reported by both clubs on Monday.
“Manchester United can confirm that defender Matteo Darmian has signed for Italian side Parma,” read a statement on the Manchester United website.
“The full-back joined the Reds from Torino in 2015 and went on to make 92 appearances for the club.
“In four years with us, Matteo scored one goal - a sublime volley against Crystal Palace in 2016, in a 2-0 victory at Old Trafford.
“Everyone at Manchester United would like to thank Matteo for his service and wish him all the best for the future.”
After the declaration by Manchester United, Parma also confirmed the done deal in a club statement saying;
"Parma Calcio 1913 is delighted to announce the signature of Matteo Darmian (Legnano, 2/12/1989) from Manchester United on a permanent contract.
"The player has signed a deal with the Crociati until 30/06/2023."
Having signed from Torino in 2015 by departed manager Louis van Gaal, Darmian found himself out of the picture at the helm of both Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
And becoming surplus to requirements at the Theatre of Dreams, the Italian right-back featured just six times for the Red Devils in the Premier League last term.
To enjoy more playing time after his chance to secure a place in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s match-day squad became bleak with the arrival of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Darmian has joined Parma.
In a four years spell at Manchester United, Darmian scored just a goal in 92 appearances for the Red Devils, where he won the UEFA Europa League and Carabao Cup in 2017, one year after clinching the FA Cup.
