Jurgen Klopp’s men have taken their foot off the pedal since winning their first league title in 30 years.
They were comfortably beaten by Manchester City a week after their status as English champions was confirmed, having also been been defeated by Arsenal coupled with an unimpressive 1-1 draw against Burnley in their penultimate home match of the season.
The Reds started their 2020/2021 season last weekend against the Gunners in the Community Shield where they lost on penalties.
Gomez has admitted that Liverpool have not been at their brilliant best in recent times but insists they are ready to get going again.
“Obviously it was a short break and then we had the restart and then the period when we switched off for a couple of weeks and that was that,” the defender told Liverpool's official website.
“But I think more than anything, the gaffer instils in us that it’s a mental battle more than physical half the time, so we’ll be ready and we have a squad full of quality to rotate when needs be.
“The main thing is, mentally we are ready to go, and I think everyone is hungrier than ever.”
Liverpool kickoff their Premier League campaign with a game against newcomers Leeds United at Anfield on September 12.
