Hazard joined Real Madrid from Chelsea in a mammoth €100 million deal last summer but struggled to hit his usual heights at the Santiago Bernabeu due to injuries.
The former Lille forward featured only 22 times for the Los Blancos in the Champions League and La Liga scoring just one goal in the process.
A dream move to play under coach Zinedine Zidane did not go as Hazard expected but Azpilicueta, who played with the La Louviere-born star between 2012 and 2019 at Stamford Bridge, has insisted that the 29-year-old will get back to his brilliant best.
“This season has been hampered by injuries and he hasn’t been at 100 percent,” the former Osasuna and Olympique Marseille full-back told Marca.
“I hope he can pick up some rhythm in order to help his team.
“I have no doubt that Real Madrid have lots of quality players and that Eden can show his worth in that team.
“Let’s hope we can see the Hazard we saw at Chelsea.”
Hazard was very successful during his seven-year stay in West London where he won six trophies including two Premier League titles and two Europe League trophies.
He also scored 110 goals and provided 92 assists in 352 appearances in all competitions.
