Arteta remains hopeful that the Gabon superstar will be tied with the North Londoners for a ‘longtime.’
The 31-year-old will be out of contract at the end of the 2020-2021 season and a new deal is yet to be agreed by the two parties.
Aubameyang has already been linked with a move away from Arsenal with top European clubs like Barcelona, Inter Milan and Manchester United all said to be mulling over the possibility of signing the former Borussia Dortmund striker.
Having been Arsenal’s main man since he joined the Gunners from the Bundesliga in January 2018, Aubameyang had another stellar campaign in the 2019/2020 season, where he netted 29 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s Community Shield clash with Liverpool, Arteta insists he is positive over a potential new deal for Aubameyang.
"I keep being positive, we have had some really good talks with him and his agent," the Spanish coach told reporters.
"I'm confident we will find an agreement soon. He should be very happy that he will be staying at the club for a long time."
Arteta also confirmed that a deal to sign Brazilian centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes, from Lille is still not done as the club look to shore up their defence ahead of the new season.
"We're trying to finalise the deal," he added. "Everything is ok only when both parties agree. We're pretty positive.
"He's a player we followed and were determined that he was the right profile for us to improve our squad. When we get it [over the line] we'll be very pleased."
