Greenwood was handed a senior bow during the 2018-19 campaign, with the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager working in his favour.
The 18-year-old played regularly for the Red Devils last season, where he scored 17 goals in 49 outings in all competitions for the senior side.
Rapid progress has been made by the Manchester United academy graduate and still learning his trade, with there plenty of potential for him to unlock.
Ferdinand is confident his compatriot will be a big player at Old Trafford, and has labeled him as a ‘cold-hearted killer.’
The 41-year-old believes Greenwood is good enough for the England National team and has tipped him to make it into Gareth Southgate’s team for the delayed EURO 2020 next year.
“Mason is a cold-hearted killer, a great finisher. He’s a natural goalscorer who is going to score loads and loads of goals,” the former Leeds United and England defender told the Sun.
“Could the Euros being delayed by a year actually work out for Mason? Probably, yeah.
“He’s a great talent and what I also love about him is his demeanor, his character. No matter the stage, same face, same expression, same way he carries himself. He knows he’s good enough. ‘Just give me the ball and I’ll do it’.”
Greenwood is currently on holidays and will soon return to the Aon Training Complex for United’s preseason.
