Toko Ekambi Rues Missed Chances Against Bayern Munich

Cameroon and Olympique Lyonnais forward Karl Toko Ekambi was left to rue missed chances after their Champions League semi-final defeat to Bayern Munich at the Estadio Jose Alvalade on Wednesday night.

Robert Lewandowski and Serge Gnabry’s brace were enough to condemn Lyon to a 3-0 defeat in Lisbon.

The French side had glorious opportunities against Bayern Munich especially during the opening stages of the game but could not turn them into goals.

Rudi Garcia’s men lacked the cutting edge after drawing rings around the Germans champions’ defenders on many occasions.

They were also a bit unlucky after having a bright start when Ekambi’s effort hit the woodwork.

Speaking after the game, Ekambi admitted that Lyon could have done better despite being the minnows.

“We could've done better, we could've scored goals - me the first one,” the Cameroonian said.

"It didn't go our way, we missed some chances and we were up against a great goalkeeper.”

"I don't think they're unbeatable. We knew they were a great side before the game and we knew we had to play out of our skins to win this match but we weren't able to do it.”

"Sometimes you have it, sometimes you don't. "Tonight we didn't do the things we needed to win the match."

Lyon defender Marcelo also echoed what his team-mate Ekambi said by insisting they were not efficient in front of goal.

The 33-year-old Brazilian said: “We missed the efficiency in front of goal. I’m proud of my team, we faced a great team and played at the same level."
