Man City Return To Winning Ways With Bournemouth Win

Manchester City returned to winning ways with a 3-1 win over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.

The champions were held to a 2-2 draw by Tottenham last week but the win takes them to second place behind Liverpool who won at home to Arsenal on Saturday.

The champions started on the front foot as usual, with the first big chance of the game falling the way of Bernardo Silva, who fired wide of the right post from Raheem Sterling’s cut-back in the 7th minute.

Kevin de Bruyne has been brilliant for Manchester City this season and the Belgian added yet another assist to his name when his miscued effort found Sergio Aguero, leaving the Argentine to control and poke the ball past the Bournemouth goalkeeper for the opening goal of the game in the 15th minute.

Bournemouth had the chance to equalize in the 39th minute after Nicolas Otamendi failed to properly deal with a cross into the box, however Ederson was off his line in no time to snuff out Adam Smith’s effort for a corner.

Raheem Sterling made Bournemouth pay for their missed chance just three minutes later, latching onto David Silva’s lovely pass to lift the ball beyond Aaron Ramsdale in the hosts goal for his fifth strike of the season.

Bournemouth halved the deficit before the break through Liverpool loanee Harry Wilson, who curled in a free-kick beyond the reach of Ederson.

Manchester City thought they should have been awarded a penalty in the 62nd minute when Jefferson Lerma trodded on David Silva’s foot but Sergio Aguero made sure of the points when he pounced on a loose ball in the Bournemouth box to net the 400th goal of his club career.
