Liverpool Go Top Of Premier League After 3-1 Victory Over Arsenal

Aiming for a Premier League trophy for the first time in 29-years after missing out on the accolade last season to Manchester City, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool recorded their third win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Arsenal at Anfield.

It was Arsenal who made the first attempt at goal as the ball spun to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but his effort from the edge of the box went over.

Sadio Mane’s goal-bound effort was saved by Bernd Leno as he stopped the ball from hitting the bottom left corner.

Nicolas Pepe made a great solo run as he tricked his way through the defence before Adrian denied him from hitting the middle of the goal.

After a relentless first half, with Liverpool dominating the game, Cameroonian Joel Matip gave the fans something to cheer about as he jumped high over Matteo Guendouzi to head home from a corner four minutes to the break.

Arsenal, failing to cope with the intensity of Liverpool after the re-start saw David Luiz pull the shirt of Mohamed Salah to deny him a goalscoring opportunity but the referee did not hesitate to award the Reds a penalty with Salah scoring the spot-kick in the 49th minute.

Connecting well to an inch-perfect cross, Aubameyang sent the ball well over the bar before Salah scored his second as he lashed the ball with incredible pace and power into the bottom left corner in the 59th minute.

Coming off the bench, Lucas Torreira, who was fed by Aubamenyang shot from inside the box to find the consolation goal for the Gunners in the 85th minute.
