Crystal Palace Shock Manchester United At Old Trafford

Crystal Palace upset the form book and came away with a priceless 2-1 win at Old Trafford on Saturday.

For the second time in less than a week, Manchester United missed a penalty; this time through Marcus Rashford as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men failed to win for the second game running.

Daniel James scored for the second consecutive home game but goals either side of half-time from Jordan Ayew and Patrick van Aanholt were enough to see Crystal Palace win for the first time in the Premier League this season.

Manchester United had it tough breaking down Crystal Palace’s resolute defence with Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford’s free kicks the closest the hosts came to opening the scoring in the first half.

Palace were yet to score in the Premier League this season, but it all changed in the 32nd minute as Jeffrey Schlupp flicked on a goal kick in the direction of Jordan Ayew, who calmly slotted past David de Gea in a one-on-one situation.

Manchester United were awarded a penalty in the second half after Scott McTominay was tripped by Palace captain Luka Milivojevic in the box but Marcus Rashford’s kick hit the outside of the post and bounced out of play.

The hosts finally found their equalizer through an exquisite effort into the far corner by Daniel James in the 89th minute.

Any hopes United had of getting a winner was snuffed out in the final minute of stoppage time as Palace caught the hosts out on the counter, allowing Patrick Van Aanholt to shoot past David de Gea for an unlikely away win.
