Pioli Wants Ibrahimovic To Stay At San Siro

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has admitted he wants Zlatan Ibrahimovic to extend his stay at San Siro after his impressive record since returning to Italy.

The former Sweden striker joined AC Milan in January on an initial six-month contract with an option to extend for another year.

Ibrahimovic’s return to San Siro coincided with AC Milan’s resurgence as they mounted a 13-game unbeaten run across all competitions and climbed up the Serie A table to finish sixth.

The 38-year-old scored eleven goals and provided five assists in 20 games in all competitions for the Rossoneri.

Ibrahimovic once admitted during an interview that he might leave the Milanese club as he does not like the club’s state of affairs, but Pioli has insisted he wants the former Barcelona, Inter Milan and Manchester United striker to extend his stay as he thinks he makes the team better.

“Not everything goes smoothly in a season. But he makes everything easy,” Pioli said, according to Football Italia.

“It’s wrong to refer to his age, he’s 100 percent professional. He taught the young players about seriousness, competitiveness in every single training session.”

“He’s the first to arrive and the last to leave. These are very strong signals. Zlatan has great respect for the roles. He has raised the competitiveness.”

“We are all convinced he should continue with us.”
