Lampard was drafted in to replace Maurizio Sarri, who returned to Italy after just one season in the Premier League.
The Blues were hit with a transfer ban and lost their superstar Eden Hazard to Real Madrid before the arrival of the Englishman from Derby County.
Lampard guided Chelsea to a top four finish despite a topsy-turvy season.
The Englishman also gave chances to talented Chelsea academy graduates which led to the breakthrough of players like Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori and Reece James.
Carvalho, who played with Lampard during his time with Chelsea, admitted that Lampard has done a decent job at Stamford Bridge given the fact that he could not make signings before the season started, and insists the Blues will be fighting for the title next season.
“Given he lost Eden Hazard, so far he’s done very well,” the Portuguese told Daily Mail.
“He achieved a Champions League place for next season which of course is very important, and has brought in young, talented players.”
“Frank is building a very good team and I expect next year he can fight for the title with those players, for sure.”
