Solskjaer Warns Man United Against Complacency Ahead Of Copenhagen Clash

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has warned his men against complacency when they take on Danish side Copenhagen in the Europa League quarter-final at the RheinEnergieSTADION in Cologne on Monday night.

The Res Devils have been in good form off-late and are looking to end the season with a silverware but Solskjaer has insisted that the Premier League outfit could be out of the competition if they fail to perform well.

Solskjaer’s side comfortably saw off Club Brugge and LASK in the previous knockout fixtures before heading to Germany for their one-off quarter-final game against Copenhagen.

Copenhagen became Denmark’s first-ever Europa League quarter-finalists after beating newly-crowned Turkish champions Istanbul Basaksehir 3-1 on aggregate in the round of 16.

Despite Manchester United being the favourite to progress at the expense of the Danes, Solskjaer has warned his players against taking the game lightly.

“We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it,” said the former Cardiff City and Molde FK boss said on Manchester United’s official club website.

“Of course, we’ve put plans in place but, for me, it’s only about this game now. You can’t think too far ahead. It’s a knockout tournament. If you don’t perform, you’re going home.”

“If you go through, then you’ve got a few days before the next game. But, at the moment, we don’t have a problem.”

Solskjaer, who played with coach Stale Solbakken in the Norwegian national team during their playing days, is fully aware of his counterpart’s tactical awareness and the team he has built.

“I know how Stale has built the club and what they’re about,” continued Ole.

“Of course, I played against them when I was at Molde. I’ve known Stale for such a long time, and Copenhagen have a great history in getting into Europe and doing well in Europe.
