Ex-Spurs Midfielder Backs Gerrard For Bournemouth Job

Rangers head coach Steven Gerrard has been backed to become next Bournemouth manager by former Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Jamie O’Hara following the departure of Eddie Howe.

Howe left his role as manager of Bournemouth by mutual consent after the club suffered relegation from the Premier League.

Gerrard together with John Terry are said to be in pole position to secure the top job at the Dean Court.

The former Liverpool skipper has been in charge of the Scottish side since 2018, having been given the task to end Celtic’s domestic dominance.

O’Hara has urged Gerrard to drop the ambition of usurping Celtic to win the Scottish Premiership and take Bournemouth back to the Premier League and insists plying your trade in England is better than being in Scotland.

“I wouldn’t want to disrespect the Rangers people because they are a huge football club but it is a bigger job to potentially be the Bournemouth manager,” the Englishman told TalkSPORT.

“Rangers are a huge, huge football club but for me there are only two teams in Scotland. Bournemouth is the potential, they have just dropped out of the Premier League and to get them back into the Premier League. They are still a high profile football team.”

“I would take the Bournemouth job. It’s the bigger job.”
