Sarri Hails ‘Extraordinary’ Ronaldo

Juventus head coach Maurizio Sarri has hailed his marksman and Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo after his stellar performance in Juventus’ 2-1 win over Lazio.

Ronaldo scored twice on Monday to help the Serie A leaders secure their first win in four matches.

The Portuguese took his league tally to 30 goals this season; tied with Lazio Ciro’s Immobile in the Capocannoniere race.

Sarri was pleased with the former Real Madrid and Manchester United man’s display against Simone Inzaghi’s men and insists Ronaldo can break Gonzalo Higuain’s 36-goal Serie A record which was set in the 2015-2016 season.

“If he puts his mind to something, he’s very difficult to stop,” the former Chelsea and Napoli boss told Sky Sport Italia.

“We’ll see if we should rest him over the next few rounds, but if he’s still in this shape, then he might not need it.”

The Italian coach also praised Ronaldo’s industry and conditioning, insisting even at the age of 35, the five-time Ballon d’Or winger recovers quickly after games.

“When Cristiano smells blood… He’s extraordinary, as he recovers so quickly between games,” Sarri added.

“It’s not just physical, but psychological.”

“He could be someone who uses up so much energy in each game, but he recovers it every time and he’s world-class in the mind as well as the legs."
