Ronaldo operated as a winger during the early days of his career, terrorizing defenses from the left flank with his cunning turns and making runs into oppositions’ box throughout the match was his known quality.
But the Portugal international moved further forward as he neared his mid-30’s and has become more of a goal poacher.
The former Real Madrid marksman has scored over 700 goals in his career and still showing no signs of stopping.
Fernandes, who followed Ronaldo’s path by joining Manchester United from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon, has posited that, the 35-year-old remains the most skillful player he has ever seen despite acknowledging the fact that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has changed his playing style.
“Cristiano – more in the first years of his career he was one of the most skillful players in the world,” the former Novara and Udinese midfielder told BT Sports.
“I think he changed his game a little bit, but he’s still a player who is really difficult one against one to defend against.”
“For me, for everyone I have played with and against, I think he is the most skilful player I have ever seen."
