The Inter Milan forward Martinez has been increasingly linked with a move away from San Siro this summer, with Barcelona believed to be one of his potential destinations.
The Argentina international has been identified by the Spanish giants as Suarez’s long-term replacement, but the 22-year-old is currently available for €111 million, with that release clause set to expire on July 15.
Despite Suarez’s place in the Barcelona team being under the siege by the potential arrival of Martinez, the former Liverpool man reiterated he would have no problems if the former Racing Club man is signed and hailed Martinez as a ‘truly great player.’
“He’s a truly great player. He’s been playing at a very high level for Inter,” the 33-year-old Uruguayan told Sport.
“It’s not easy to move to Italy from Argentina and show everything he has in a league as difficult as the Italian one.”
“He’s young and we’ll try to help him if he comes to Barca, to adapt and make him feel comfortable.”
Martinez has scored 18 times and provided six assists in all competitions for Antonio Conte’s men this season.
