Kimpembe Extends PSG Stay Until 2024

Paris Saint Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe has signed a new four-year contract to remain at the club until the summer of 2024.

The 24-year-old came through the youth ranks of the French champions and has won 13 trophies in total with Thomas Tuchel’s men, including five Ligue 1 titles.

"The club wishes Presnel continued success in his career in the Paris Saint-Germain colours," PSG said in a statement.

Kimpembe made 16 Ligue 1 appearances in the 2019/2020 season before PSG were crowned champions after the French domestic season was ended early because of the coronavirus pandemic. He will be looking to add more trophies to his cabinet when the Parisians meet Saint Etienne and Olympique Lyon in the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue finals respectively later this month.

PSG are still in the Champions League where they will face Atalanta in the quarterfinals in Lisbon for a chance to make the final four for the first time in their history.

"Paris is my team, and the club where I came through the ranks. I have been here since I was eight years old and to be able to be here for the long-term is a real honour for me. I hope that I can continue to win lots of matches and lots of trophies,” Kimpembe told PSG’s website after signing his new deal.

"My list of memories is long! I have been here for a very long time. My first professional contract remains a very special memory, because it was the culmination of lots of work and sacrifices. There was also my professional debut, against Lens at the Stade de France, my first match in the Champions League against Barcelona, the victory over Dortmund... I could carry on!"

Kimpembe has won nine caps for France and was a member of Les Bleus side that won the FIFA World Cup in Russia two years ago.
