Klopp Praises Graham Potter’s Brighton Despite Liverpool Win

Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on Brighton and Hove Albion head coach Graham Potter for gallantly setting up his team against Liverpool in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

The Reds edged past a stubborn Brighton side 3-1 to end their recent scoring drought on the road.

Liverpool were off to a flyer when Mohamed Salah and Jordan Henderson scored in the opening ten minutes, but the hosts mounted pressure on the newly-crowned Premier League champions to cut their deficit in half after a fine finish from Leandro Trossard on the cusp of halftime.

The Seagulls were unfazed by Klopp’s men current status and could have pulled parity before Salah restored Liverpool’s two-goal lead in the 76th minute when he headed home his second goal of the game.

In an interview with the media after the game, Klopp was impressed with Brighton’s display and insists he respects what Potter is doing at the Amex Stadium.

“I saw two very good football teams, both trying to play football,” the former Borussia Dortmund head coach told BBC MOTD.

“They had a brave formation and set up but we had a super solution for that.”

“Our high press was outstanding but when we lost the ball in the wrong moment it was really difficult.”

"They deserved the goal so we just had to adjust a few things like our protection and position in midfield and it helped.”

“The beginning was outstanding and the end was good again. I couldn't respect more what Graham [Potter] is doing here - they made it a really tough game”
