Alcantara is likely to leave Bayern Munich this summer with a year left on his contract.
The Premier League outfit have been linked with a move for the Spain international but Enrique has warned them against a potential swoop.
Thiago has been on the books of Bayern Munich since leaving Barcelona in the summer of 2013, and has since won a lot of trophies with the Bundesliga giants.
After comfortably winning the Premier League, signing the likes of Thiago to bolster their squad would be regarded by many as a statement of intent, but Enrique, who played for Liverpool between 2011 and 2016, does not think so.
The 34-year-old told Stadium Astro: “If they get him, definitely he’s going there because Klopp has called him and told him he’s going to be a starting player often.
“I believe he will be a very, very good player for us but how much do you want to spend on this player and for how many years is he going to perform in your team? That’s what you have to look at as well.”
“I’m not sure it would be the best fit, but he’s an unbelievable player, there’s no doubt about that, and he would make the starting line-up.”
