'I Ultimately Made A Poor Decision'- Bonucci Rues AC Milan Move

Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci says he regrets joining AC Milan three years ago.

Juventus’ famed ‘BBC’ defensive trio of Bonucci, Andrea Barzagli and Giorgio Chiellini were broken up in the summer of 2017 when a disagreement with then manager Massimiliano Allegri led to the former Bari defender making a switch to the Rossoneri.

Despite being made captain upon his arrival in Milan, Bonucci’s stay at the seven-time European champions lasted for just one season before he completed a move back to Turin.

The 33-year-old’s first spell at the Italian champions ended after a 4-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final but he is glad to be back now.

"It was a difficult season for me, both personally and professionally,” Bonucci told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"There were some disagreements and, especially after the defeat in the Champions League, I ultimately made a poor decision, but I have to say that the decision, which certainly influenced my career, improved me as a man.

"Those months at Milan let me do some soul-searching and made me realise that my calling was at Juventus, who are like my family.

"I met some beautiful people at Milan, first of all Rino [Gennaro] Gattuso. It was a difficult year, but that's not to say it was useless. At the end of it, I was very happy to go back home."

Bonucci has won seven Serie A titles in his two spells with Juventus.
