Premier League Record No Positive Case In Sixth Round Of Covid-19 Tests

No new positive cases have been recorded in the latest round of routine covid-19 tests conducted for Premier League players and staff.

A total of 1,195 individuals were tested in the sixth round of testing conducted on Thursday and Friday.

A statement released on Saturday read: "The Premier League can today confirm that on Thursday 4 June and Friday 5 June, 1,195 players and club staff were tested for Covid-19. Of these, zero have tested positive.

"The Premier League is providing this aggregated information for the purposes of competition integrity and transparency.

"No specific details as to clubs or individuals will be provided by the League and results will be made public after each round of testing."

Six players and staff from three Premier League clubs tested positive for the virus when the first tests were done on May 19 including Watford’s Adrian Mariappa and Burnley assistant manager Ian Woan.

Two more positive cases were detected in the second round of testing, with one of those being Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

Four more positive cases were recorded in the third round while the fourth round of testing produced no positive cases.

Tottenham returned the solitary positive case from the fifth round of tests conducted earlier last week.

The Premier League has announced June 17 as the date to resume the league which was put on hold in March. Aston Villa will take on Sheffield United while Manchester City will host Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.
