Ronaldo is in his second season in Italy, having joined the Serie A side after a successful nine-year stint in Spain, where he won fifteen trophies and became Real Madrid’s all-time top scorer with 450 goals.
Despite being in the latter stage of his career, Ronaldo is showing no signs of slowing down, as he has scored 25 goals in 32 games in all competitions for the Bianconeri, including a streak of eleven goals in eleven successive league games.
De Ligt has heaped praise on the five-time Ballon d’Or winner and admits he is always trying to improve by watching the former Manchester United superstar.
“Ronaldo is the best of his generation and a huge example for young players,” the former Ajax captain told Tuttosport.
“I always try to improve the way I play by watching him because even in training he has a crazy intensity and you wonder if he really is 35 years old.”
The 20-year-old added: “We really have a good team, a lot of good guys. The most fun are the South Americans.”
“Beside Ronaldo, I was impressed by Paulo Dybala and Rodrigo Bentancur: both players with an amazing technique. Rodrigo in particular is underestimated, he will have a great future ahead of him.”
