Trabzonspor were handed a one-season ban from European football for breaching UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations, but the Super Lig leaders will appeal at CAS in Switzerland within ten days, according to the club’s official statement.
Per the statement released by UEFA on Wednesday, Trabzonspor have been accused of failing to meet the order of a 2016 settlement agreement which required them to be “break-even compliant”.
The ban would only be applicable if the Trabzon-based club qualify for the Champions League or Europa League in either of the next two seasons.
The club announced their intention to appeal few hours after the governing body hit them with the ban.
"UEFA concluded with the decision today that our club did not comply with the reconciliation agreement we have signed with them," the club said in a statement.
"Although we respect the decision, we would like to emphasize that we disagree with this decision in our evaluation with club lawyers. We would like to announce that we will object against this decision within 10 days."
Trabzonspor have not played since mid-March due to the Coronavirus pandemic but currently lead Istanbul Basaksehir on goal difference with eight rounds left to play and fixtures are due to restart next week.
