The legendary manager, who currently works as FIFA global development boss, has suggested another radical change concerning the transfer of players.
The 70-year-old was giving his views on how the game might be changed in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic
Wenger has opined that there should be limits on how much clubs can pay in wages, licensing for agents.
“I am for the abolition of the January transfer window. Managers don’t deal with this second window well,” the Frenchman said in an interview with French sports outlet L’Equipe [via Get Football News France].
“In October, as soon as a player does not play anymore, he tries to find a solution elsewhere and waits for January to leave.”
“He is no longer mobilized, he gives up. When you make a mistake, a player as much as a club, very well! You have to assume that responsibility.”
Wenger became Arsenal manager in 1996 after spending a year in the Japanese J1 League with Nagoya Grampus Eight.
He spent 22 years in North London where he won many trophies which includes three Premier League trophies and seven FA Cups, making him the most successful manager in the history of the Gunners.
