Ramzy has said the La Liga giants tempted to lure Salah away from the Premier League months before the two sides met in the Champions League final in Kiev, where Jurgen Klopp’s men were eventually brushed aside by Real Madrid.
Salah returned to England in 2017, joining the Merseyside-based club from Serie A outfit AS Roma. The Egyptian quickly became a conveyor-belt of goals at Anfield, netting 43 goals for the season across all competitions, becoming the Reds’ second-highest goalscorer in a single season, behind Ian Rush.
The former Chelsea man together with his Liverpool team-mate Sadio Mane have constantly been linked with moves to Madrid and Barcelona.
Ramzy said he was told by Salah during a training session under the-then Egypt coach Hector Cuper that Real Madrid came calling but he decided to stay in Merseyside.
“When I was working with Hector Cuper, we had a training camp in Switzerland [in March 2018],” the 51-year-old told OnTime Sports.
“I was talking to Salah and he told me that Real Madrid had sent him an offer.”
“The offer was really good, but Salah discussed it with me and Mr. Cuper, and he decided to stay with Liverpool because he was comfortable there.”
