Torreira moved to the Emirates Stadium from Sampdoria in the summer of 2018 and made 50 appearances in all competitions in his debut season, scoring two goals.
This season, the 24-year-old Uruguayan has featured 33 times in all competitions for the Gunners but his campaign was curtailed in March when he suffered a fractured ankle against Portsmouth in the FA Cup, ruling him out of action for two weeks.
The Coronavirus pandemic has ensured that Torreira did not missed too many games and he will be fit to join Mikel Arteta’s squad if the season is able to resume.
But Torreira’s time in England might not last long after his agent revealed he has a desire to return to Italy, where AC Milan have been credited with an interest.
"He was a bit angry about some technical issues, but later recovered," Bentancur told TodoMercadoWeb.
"The injury came, though it was fortunately less serious than expected. Today he is fully recovered, I think he will be an important man in the next [transfer] market.
"I will have to talk to Arsenal. The player would like to return to Italy, but it must be admitted that in England they have treated him very well."
Arsenal have been linked with Atletico Madrid’s Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey to augment their midfield next season.
