Martinez is one of the most in-demand players on the European football market, with clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid are all thought to be in pole position to secure his services.
The 22-year-old has featured for his country 17 times ever since he burst on to the European football scene, and was a sensation for Argentina in the 2019 Copa America tournament in Brazil.
Setien talked about Martinez’s partnership in the national team with Lionel Messi and admits playing alongside the six-time Ballon d’Or winner is a ‘huge incentive.’
The Spanish coach has labelled the former Racing Club man as a great player and but insists it will be difficult for clubs to do business in the summer due to the effect of the coronavirus pandemic.
"He is an important player, a great player, and Barcelona are always interested in great players, of course," Setien said in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.
"But in these times without football, a different name comes out every day. For many players the opportunity to be able to play with Messi represents a huge incentive."
Martinez had scored 16 goals in 31 games for Antonio Conte’s men before the 2019-20 season was suspended due to the outbreak of Covid-19.
