The five-time Ballon d’or winner is noted for jumping and spinning in the air before landing with his arms outstretched anytime he finds the back of the net.
Ronaldo has revealed that he first celebrated instinctively in that manner after scoring in a pre-season game between Real Madrid and Chelsea six years ago.
The Juventus forward scored twice in the International Champions Cup against the Londoners for Los Blancos in a 3-1 win on August 7, 2013 in the USA.
“It was when we were playing Chelsea in the USA and I really don’t know how it came about,” Ronaldo told the Soccer.com YouTube channel.
“I scored and it just came out. It was completely natural to be honest.
"Afterwards, I realized I enjoyed it and started to do it more often. I saw that the fans liked it and that they’d remember it so I carried on doing it."
Ronaldo’s celebration has been copied by various footballers around the world as it has become immensely popular.
Now at Juventus, Ronaldo scored 21 times in the Serie A last season to help the Bianconeri to an eighth consecutive league title but they missed out on the Champions League trophy, losing to Ajax Amsterdam in the quarterfinals, and the former Manchester United man is hoping to remedy that in the near future.
"Juve are going to win, if not this year, I hope it will be the next or in two years, Ronaldo told Marca last week.
"And it will be because of our work ethic and because of the way the club is being set up. They have all of the ingredients to win it."
