Neymar and Mbappe have been team-mates since their respective arrivals in the summer of 2017. The Brazilian has been often accused of taking the Parisians for granted since his world-record move to France.
Despite admitting Mbappe is the best young player in the world, Petit has revealed he is not impressed with the character of the 21-year-old.
The 2018 World Cup winner has been in fine form this season for the Ligue 1 champions as he scored 30 goals and provided 17 assists in just 33 games for PSG before the season was suspended due to the outbreak of Covid-19.
In an interview quoted by Spanish outlet Marca, Petit believes his compatriot might not reach his full potential if he is not careful.
"He tends to p*** me off a bit more," the 49-year-old said when asked about Mbappe's attitude on the pitch.
"He can be annoying with his teammates and he has to be careful, sometimes he's like Neymar and it may backfire on him."
Petit then moved on to hail the former Monaco man’s talent and believes Mbappe has progressed a lot during these few years.
"He's progressed a lot in three years," he added.
"He came with incredible potential, he was an unpolished diamond, he's shown that he's progressed with his statistics, but he's also shown great maturity in a number of ways."
